Learning On the Mat Never Ends
One pose or 1,000 poses. 10 minutes or 20 years of practice. It's only possible if you show up for YOU. This is inspired by onne of my favorites from @exhalewellnessatwork - be sure to check out a full list of classes and program at www.exhalewellnessatwork.com Click Here for the virtual class experience.
I've learned a lot of lessons in my 20-year yoga practice, as a student and a teacher. I started practicing yoga when I was pregnant with my son, 20 years ago and it's evolved in many forms and experiences. Today I'm connected to this idea of "being a part of something so much more than your physical sense of self" In yoga it's called Isvara Pranidhana (it's the last of the Niyamas in the 8-limbs of yoga). I have taught to this idea often, and each time I feel I get closer to knowing what it really means... because I'm still learning the full magnitude of surrendering ego, letting go, releasing, all those powerful words for moving on, up, out, over. I equate this feeling to rising up like in Mountain Pose where I feel solidly grounded to the earth in a safe way that I can somehow keep rising upwards to touch the clouds or stars in the sky... that my body IS stretching upward and outward to expansion. Physically this isn't happening, but on another level I call "the yoga level" it is... everything is possible and is real and happening all at once. There's no ego holding you back. There's only possibility and it's the most welcoming, joyful and satisfying feeling. (Hmmm.... no wonder I keep showing up to practice). Then reality sets back in and you realize you aren't actually touching the stars but the possibility, the wonder, the feeling is still present and you take it with you. This is what it means to me to realize WE are all a part of something more: we all have a duty to realize and then release our full potential into the world. That's the gift we receive and give. To know yourself, I mean to truly know yourself ore than anything by being able to answer "who am I?" is the pathway to being part of something more. When you discover who you are (and how awesome you are) and what you are meant do, offer, or be a part of, you are limitless. You are pure potential. You're unstoppable. You're abundant. You are worthy. This is the "MORE" (than enough) we all get to be a part of. So, see you in yoga tomorrow, right? Or how about right now... this one is a reminder that 10 minutes or 10 hours doesn't define the practice, it's the art of showing up for YOU. I hope you enjoy :)
